Inside the EVP: Chicago
by David Goodman
This beach volleyball trip was a blast! Josh, Luke, Jeremy and I decided to take the drive...15 hours later we pulled into the beautiful downtown Marriott, thanks Ross for such a great accommodation! After getting situated in the room, we went down to get some local restaurant info from the bellman. We met up with team New York for lunch and beers at Rock Bottom Brewery, which later would prove to be a bad decision. Not because of the ladies company or the brown ale, but the medium rare cheeseburger should be avoided at all cost...huh Josh? With a little rest under our belt, we tracked north for the pre-party at The Hunt Club. With an updated start time of 6am, due to 36 men's teams signing up for the national championship event, we were horizontal by 10pm.
Inside the EVP: Virginia Beach
by David Goodman
This week the EVP was in Virginia Beach. This being my hometown, I figured why not give it a shot...so I entered my first pro event with Dave Russell as a partner. For those of you who don't know Dave, he won a national championship with UCLA in 2006. We decided to play down defense, my face hurts from laughter, since we both are 6'6".
2007 AVP Charleston Open: The Price of a Wildcard
by David Goodman
As part of my daily reading, I came across a post in the AVP forum that was pretty interesting. The posts below are focused around an exemption into the main draw for the 2007 AVP Charleston Open. The wildcard spot was given to Coley Kyman and Mark Presho.
Inside the EVP: Deerfield Beach
by Matt Heath
This week we were in Deerfield Beach. This is one of my favorite places to play. I went to school at FAU right around the corner. This is the beach where I learned to win at the game of volleyball. Deerfield has a lot to offer a player of any level. When I was an up and comer I used to spend countless hours down there, first just playing games then later training with my coach, Rob Smith.
In Search of the Top Beach for Volleyball
by Ken Haan
This weekend's EVP event just happened to be at the current best spot in the entire country for playing the game, Deerfield Beach! Here are the criteria to make the top 10 list of perfect volleyball beaches. (Send in your choice!) Dana Camacho won by the way. You know the player with tattoos on both nipples.
Inside the EVP: Miami Beach
by Matt Heath
This week Jake Elliott and I were lucky enough to stay with a living legend, Kenny Haan and his wife Julie. Kenny is the winningest player in Florida Beach history. Let me make something clear, though we had a place to stay, any transit responsibility fell directly on us. Kenny's Rule Numero Uno: No Airport Runs
